All our guides have advanced driving qualifications meaning they offer more than just navigation or commentary. They bring a calm, reassuring presence; a depth of local knowledge; and an instinct for when to guide, and when to simply allow the journey to unfold naturally.

Chris Hunter
Founder/Private Guide
Christopher believes the finest journeys begin long before guests arrive. As the founder of Alba Mhòr, Christopher brings a considered and deeply personal approach to travel in Scotland.
Every itinerary is thoughtfully designed around the people travelling, combining decades of experience with a personal understanding of what transforms a vacation into a truly memorable Scottish experience.
A PGA Professional for over 30 years, Christopher began his career as a golf coach, working in Scotland, Germany, Switzerland and Dubai before moving into golf and real estate in the Middle East. Fluent in German, he has spent much of his career working with international clients, developing a strong appreciation for personalised service and attention to detail.
After returning to Scotland in 2010, Christopher established himself as a chauffeur for VIP clients before founding Chauffeur Services Scotland, building a reputation for discretion, professionalism and meticulously planned luxury journeys. Today, through Alba Mhòr, he combines premium transport, exceptional accommodation and carefully curated experiences into seamless itineraries tailored to each guest.
His expertise spans Scotland's finest hotels, world-renowned golf courses, celebrated whisky distilleries, rich history and heritage, together with a carefully curated collection of hidden gems discovered through years of exploration. A keen golfer himself, Christopher understands what makes a truly memorable golfing experience, both on and off the course. When relaxing Chris enjoys a nice dram of Bowmore 15 or Benriach 12.
Whether planning a bespoke whisky experience, family adventure, romantic retreat or golfing escape, Christopher is committed to creating experiences that feel personal, seamless and quietly exceptional.
Jim Kean
Private Guide
Jim has a natural ability to make guests feel immediately at ease, combining years of guiding experience with an easy conversation style and a genuine enthusiasm for Scotland's landscapes, history, heritage and whisky.
Following a successful career in sales and service management, Jim chose to step away early and spend time travelling — exploring landscapes as varied as the Drakensberg and volunteering in Cape Town.
On returning to Scotland, he spent several years as a golf tour guide before moving into whisky-focused journeys, where his knowledge has continued to deepen through years on the road and time spent in distilleries across the country. His advanced driving and minibus qualifications also allow him to comfortably guide larger groups throughout Scotland.
His approach is relaxed and personable, shaped as much by conversation as by experience. He takes particular pleasure in introducing guests to the character of Scotland’s whisky regions — from well-known names to smaller, lesser-visited distilleries that often leave the strongest impression.
Away from guiding, Jim remains active, enjoying hill walking, golf, and veterans football, having previously been capped for Scotland in handball. A proud family man, he values connection and shared experience — something that naturally carries through into how he guides. When asked for a favourite part of Scotland, his answer is simple: “all of it — in any weather.”
His whisky preferences range from the richness of Dalmore King Alexander III and Edradour Caledonia to the easy character of Loch Lomond for everyday enjoyment.
Sean Reynolds

From the moment your journey begins, Sean's calm and reassuring nature creates an atmosphere that feels relaxed, comfortable and effortlessly organised. Backed by extensive driving experience, advanced driving and minibus qualifications, he allows guests to simply enjoy Scotland at their own pace.
Sean brings a genuine enthusiasm for Scotland’s heritage and whisky, with a particular interest in helping guests discover places that sit just beyond the expected. His manner is easy and unhurried, allowing travellers to feel both comfortable and quietly looked after from the outset.
Sean’s guiding style is shaped by a thoughtful balance of professionalism and warmth — always attentive, yet never intrusive — ensuring that each journey unfolds at a pace that feels right for those travelling with him..
Outside of work, he enjoys walking in the Scottish Highlands, having completed many of Scotland’s Munros, as well as playing golf and following Scottish rugby, drawing on his own experience as a former player.
His whisky preferences include Old Pulteney 12 Year Old, Tomatin Legacy, Monkey Shoulder, and The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old.
Derek Mathieson

Derek's calm professionalism allows guests to relax from the moment they arrive, knowing every detail of their journey is in experienced hands. A strong sense of discretion and security-mindedness from his previous career, combined with advanced driving qualifications and years of chauffeur experience, provides reassurance throughout every mile.
Known for his easy-going nature and thoughtful manner, Derek takes great pride in helping guests feel comfortable from the moment they arrive. His guiding style is relaxed and engaging, allowing travellers to enjoy Scotland at their own pace while discovering the stories, landscapes and traditions that make the country so distinctive.
With a strong interest in Scottish history and local culture, Derek enjoys tailoring each experience around the interests of his guests, whether that means exploring historic sites, discovering hidden corners of the Highlands, or learning more about Scotland's rich whisky traditions.
He has a particular appreciation for lighter malts and is always happy to share his knowledge with fellow whisky enthusiasts. His favourite drams include Glengoyne 21, Aberlour 12 and Arran 14
Away from guiding, Derek enjoys spending time exploring Scotland's landscapes and continuing to deepen his knowledge of the places, people and stories that make the country such a rewarding destination to share with others.
